"Without sounding too dramatic, something had died in me because of the nonsense and pressure of making movies in Hollywood. My films were becoming too normal and I like to think I'm stranger than that.”
Highly acclaimed, massively award winning Peter Chelsom boasts a varied career which took him from The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Royal National Theatre to directing Hollywood hits. Peter combines being an actor’s director with a real cinematic vision resonating beyond the literal and the mundane.
His directing career began with the hugely successful feature "Hear My Song", which led to his first BAFTA nomination.
Showing huge talent for comedy, the hit "Funny Bones" followed - a dark comedy with an all-star Hollywood cast that brought home a whopping 5 Best Picture awards and catapulted Peter to the Golden Globe-nominated "The Mighty" and Box Office mega-hits, "Serendipity" (with Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack) and "Shall We Dance" (with J-Lo and Richard Gere).
Other highlights include "Hector and the Pursuit of Happiness" which stars Simon Pegg as a disillusioned psychiatrist travelling the world to find the secret of happiness. Peter has always attracted a very high level of casting and this film is no exception, the comedy-drama also stars Rosamund Pike, Christopher Plummer and Toni Collette.
Peter's latest feature was released in February 2017. "The Space Between Us" is a sci-fi love story about the first boy to be born on Mars, starring Gary Oldman and Asa Butterfield.
