In the summer of 1993 Fred started a long and inspiring relationship with Luc Besson, working on Joan of Arc and The Fifth Element. He also worked as Assistant Director on Beyond the Clouds with Michaelangelo Antonioni and Wim Wenders.

Meanwhile, Fred was developing his editing and directing skills on such documentaries as the making of Leon and the making of The Fifth Element.

In 1998 Luc Besson asked Fred to direct the music video for the title song of 'Taxi' and in the same year, Besson produced Fred's first feature, 'The Dancer'.

Fred has gone on to direct commercials for brands including Nokia, Pepsi and Evian, developing a particularly distinctive visual energy. He has recently completed his third Rimmel commercial featuring Kate Moss.
